- Project Brief: Design packaging that elevates luxury chocolate into an artistic experience through refined structure, materials, and visual storytelling.
A chocolate packaging system for Maison Thierry Bornier connects French artistic traditions with Chinese culture. Maison Thierry Bornier's artisan chocolate brand treats each confection as a piece of art, using a museum-inspired layout to frame the product.
The design features an MTB monogram with delicate lines that resemble the moldings found in art galleries. This symbol is mirrored four times to create a crown shape, giving the packaging a rhythmic pattern that feels both historical and high-end.
Color does the quieter work here. Bitter Ganache and Almond Cream do double duty as palette and promise, earthy names that set expectations before the box is even open. The silver foil is the kind you notice on second look rather than first, and the serif-and-sans-serif typography follows the same instinct: refined without working too hard at it.
The unwrapping is slow by design, and the physical experience is part of the product. The chocolate sits inside like a small sculpture, and the box earns that treatment.
