Sur La Table was founded in the heart of Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market in 1972. Forty-five years later, Sur La Table has expanded from its humble roots into a national brand with 100+ locations and over 2,000 employees. The Challenge:When faced with an increasing number of customers migrating from brick-and-mortar stores to online shopping, SLT saw an opportunity to leverage its vibrant history and unique in-store experience to build national brand awareness and drive engagement. As a trusted partner, CRP was challenged to establish a new brand vision, consumer segmentation model, and identity system to increase awareness, boost sales, and encourage customer engagement.The Solution:We immersed ourselves in the history of the company, gathered key insights from consumers and employees, and led Sur La Table’s key stakeholders through day long retreat to clarify the brand’s direction. Our initial work resulted in alignment around a new purpose: “To bring people closer together through cooking. Because life happens around the table.” Mission in hand, we uncovered ways to clarify the brand message and appropriately channel communication. We crafted an internal brand book that defined the brand character and voice, and created a consumer segmentation model to identify their core community, allowing Sur La Table to speak directly to their hearts, and bellies.We co-authored a set of brand guidelines with Sur La Table’s internal creative team to ensure executional consistency company-wide. The resulting document took into account the full spectrum of SLT’s design touch points – from retail and private label packaging to seasonal campaigns, including interactive and email marketing initiatives. By sharpening Sur La Table’s brand purpose, executional consistency, value proposition and omnichannel marketing strategy, we discovered why Sur La Table means “on the table” -- because life happens around it.

Millions of products bear the CSA mark, a globally recognized badge of safety and quality that products earn through rigorous certification and testing. CSA Group also writes standards that cover everything from nuclear power to railways, drawing on a network of over 9,000 volunteer experts.
BFM partnered with CSA Group to help communicate its unique history, role, and services to the world, with a best-in-class website and a range of other marketing communications.
We were ultimately able to launch a more contemporary, easier-to-navigate website that helped show the full scope of CSA Group’s services and expertise.
Since launch, we’ve continued to work with CSA Group on a range of projects, including help on restyling their online store. More recently, we’ve been helping CSA Group plan the marketing for their 100-year anniversary in 2019 – an exciting project we’ve been privileged to be a part of.

Harnessing the power of influencer marketing, Trenzi connects users with brands to create a personal marketing experience on social media in return for rewards.Solid build. Flexible product.Trenzi’s founders needed help creating their product and identity. They initially planned to target fashion retail brands and consumers, with plans to expand to other sectors in the near future.As nothing is certain in the initial stages of a startup, we designed an identity and product that could adapt to different brands and markets. We used subtle warm colors to enrich content and welcome users to share campaigns on social media. Additionally, for simplicity, the application is built on a single code base and works seamlessly in both iOS and Android.Simplifying a robust systemWithin the user interface, we designed simple iconography to succinctly communicate Trenzi’s robust earning methods.Aside from the several reward earning methods, they also have a donations system where users can put reward dollars towards good causes, such as funding classrooms. We used color-coded elements, red for rewards and orange for donations, to delineate between the two actions while keeping them integrated in a single interface.
