Jack Bannon spearheaded a team project to reimagine the Sezzle mobile app's in-store directory. Understanding that the brand’s target audience consists of college students new to BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) services, the design team prioritized an intuitive and user-centric approach.
The app streamlines product discovery by using clear and concise categories. A simplified categorization system caters to users unfamiliar with Sezzle's offerings or online shopping in general. The focus on clarity allows users to navigate the app effortlessly and find the products they seek quickly.
Considering many Sezzle users may be shopping for unfamiliar brands, the app prioritizes product visibility by showcasing products alongside relevant merchants. This approach benefits users and businesses — users can discover new and exciting products they might not have encountered otherwise, while stores gain valuable exposure to a broader audience.
Lastly, the design team recognized that not all purchases are immediate. To cater to users who are planning future purchases, they designed the app to include a wishlist functionality. This feature allows users to save products they are interested in for later reference, encouraging further exploration!
