Maclean's Bakery, situated in the distinct Hebridean Isles, needed packaging that truly resonated with its unique origins. Seeking to boost shelf presence for their biscuit and oatcake range, they partnered with the local agency Black House Creative. The design focused intently on embedding the islands' essence directly into the visual identity.
Inspired by vintage posters, the packaging shows clear, modern renderings of specific Hebridean locales — coastlines, seascapes — defining each product package. Using vibrant colors derived directly from the local landscape, this approach differentiates items like oatcakes and shortbread while providing a sense of locally made quality.
Despite unique scenes embellishing each pack, the product range maintains strong visual unity overall. Its consistent art treatment, the highly visible bakery name, crisp sans-serif text, and circular cutouts are what enhance cohesion across items.
