Standout Features:
- Mystical and evocative imagery
- Addition of a personal narrative
- Thematically consistent and cohesive design
Piercing blue eyes, a red veil, and a fiery, ancient landscape: the Oracle of Delphi album cover immediately captivates with its imagery. Saul Fineman’s print design promises mysticism before the first note is even played. And he does so in a few ways:
Firstly, the cover immediately plunges the viewer into a surreal world with a close-up of a person's face, partially obscured by a vibrant red veil dramatically draped across her face, leaving only her piercing blue eye as a focal point. This dramatic image is layered over a fiery landscape and a ruined temple structure, creating an unsettling yet intriguing effect.
In contrast, the inside panels feature a black and white photograph of the artist, Rusty Crutcher, giving a face to associate with the music. Alongside the photograph are Rusty's personal reflections on the creative process. He describes his experience walking the ruins of Delphi and allowing the place to "speak" to him and inspire the music.
Lastly, the stark reds and blacks, which dominate the front cover, are echoed in the design elements throughout the album. A classic, almost ancient-looking serif typeface is consistently used for the album title and artist name. This demonstrates thematic consistency in the design, keeping that allure and mystery inside and out.Â

From the haunting front cover to the meticulously designed inside panels and CD itself, the 'Oracle of Delphi' presents a masterfully cohesive album cover print design. It immerses the audience before they even engage with the product.
