For the restaurant/food industry, the design concept of Magpie website is not really something new, yet it’s something interesting there to admire. The background formula of every page on the site features seemingly lookalike photos shot in the pie-making workplace casually. However, this kind of layout not only requires eye-catching professional photography to set up the right tone of the subject, but the imagery must also be able to set off the text content. The designer has used this texture-like background approach tastefully and created a beautiful, expressive online experiences. It’s warm, personal, and full of feeling.
The homepage contains three fullscreen looping videos, the identical setting is tailor-made. Each video goes with a different call-to-action depend on the visitor’s interest, one is “Full Menu”, the other is “Our Story,” another is “Upcoming Classes.” The three pieces are rotating automatically, yet visitors could self-control by the sided slide indicators.
The “Menu” page balances the imagery background and text well, and the font choices match the whole look and feel. To have “How To Order” section follows is a user-centered approach. One nice achievement of this webpage appears when it comes to the responsive aspect.
