Web Design Review from John Huntzinger
This is the most pathetic web design company ever. They have on their website 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. My experience was far from that. All I wanted to do was up date an existing website that I very much liked that I had used for 10 years. They gave me a price of updating of $8000. It was a fight the entire process. I did not want anything special, just updates of my current website for the new technology that had occurred over the past 10 years. They could not get my website duplicated. When they did not duplicated, and I showed them why it was not a duplication, they said, oh, you want that, this is out of our scope. My argument was they knew the scope, they could see the web site I liked. They keep upping the price, they raised the quote to over $20,000. When we launched their version after months of struggle getting like my old website, there was no way for me to adequately change my pricing on the website, in a manner that I could preform, again, just like I showed them in the beginning. They showed me their new and improved process, but it was impossible for me to function. They again, wanted more money after paying them more than 2 and a half times the price they quoted, and still not giving me a website that was like my original website that they were suppose to improve. It took me 3 Months to get my old website back up after giving this company took $20,000 of my money. This is the most pathetic rip off company I have ever dealt with. I have an over 100 Million Dollar a Year Company, and having their disaster website up 2 months, paying them 2.5 Times their original bid, and having to take it down because it was not functional was truly a nightmare, and I wasted over $20,000 of money, and got nothing but 2 Months worth of headaches. They told me in the beginning they could have it completed in a couple weeks, but I had 4 Month of a Nightmare, and lost $20,000. Stay away from this company!!!!!

Matthew Small and his company, Commonwealth Creative, were instrumental in getting my business off the ground.
Within about ten minutes of explaining what I wanted for a simple website, Matt had already secured the domain, set up professional email addresses, and launched a fully functional website. I was honestly blown away by the speed and efficiency.
Before working with Commonwealth Creative, I spoke with several other companies who quoted tens of thousands of dollars and long timelines for the same type of work. Matt delivered everything I needed almost immediately and at a fraction of the cost.
If you’re starting a business or need web services done quickly and professionally, I highly recommend Commonwealth Creative. Working with Matt was a game changer.

Our experience with Nickel Bronx has been nothing short of amazing. Initially, we were in search of an agency that could help us revamp our brand strategy, update our website, and elevate our position within our target market. From our very first meeting, Borzou made it abundantly clear that Nickel Bronx would not only meet our expectations but would go above and beyond in guiding us through this transformative journey. The team at Nickel Bronx took the time to thoroughly understand our vision and worked tirelessly to bring it to life, offering innovative solutions and invaluable insights along the way. Their dedication and expertise have truly set them apart, leaving us confident and excited about our brand's future.
One highlight of our collaboration was the complete overhaul of our brand messaging. Nickel Bronx showed an incredible understanding of our industry and turned that into a strategic message that clicks with our audience. Their team took the time to get to know our values and goals, ensuring our new brand identity perfectly aligned with our vision.
A major part of our rebranding initiative was redesigning our logo, which was a significant project since the old logo had been used for 23 years. However, Nickel Bronx approached the task with creativity and precision. Their team expertly guided us through the process, patiently assisting our stakeholders in understanding the necessity for change. The outcome was a refined, modern logo that captures the heart and soul of our brand while respecting its history.
Nickel Bronx also gave us invaluable advice on launching our revamped brand in the new year. Their insights into best practices and strategies have prepared us for a successful launch. While we haven’t unveiled our new brand yet, the excitement is real, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Nickel Bronx team.
Beyond branding, Nickel Bronx was critical in revamping our website. They guided us through a detailed design process, carefully crafting outlines, sitemaps, content buckets, and design options that were all in line with our new brand identity. Their attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistency throughout the website design were impressive.
Nickel Bronx has been an indispensable partner in our rebranding and website journey. Their expertise, creativity, and professionalism have been key in taking our brand to new heights. We’re excited to showcase the results of this collaboration and are confident that our new brand will make a lasting impact in our industry.

7 Frequently Asked Questions About Website Development Services in Virginia
How much does a web development company in Virginia charge?
A web development company in Virginia typically charges $12,000 to $150,000, depending on the website’s size, features, customization, and complexity. These prices generally follow broader U.S. web development rates, since final costs depend more on project scope than location alone.
Simple business website: $12,000–$30,000
Custom business website: $30,000–$75,000
Complex website or eCommerce platform: $75,000–$150,000+
Simple sites usually include standard pages, responsive design, and basic CMS setup. Custom and complex builds cost more because they require stronger UX/UI design, backend development, integrations, payment systems, databases, or advanced security.
Businesses should also budget for hosting, SSL certificates, maintenance, SEO, content, and future updates.
How long does it take for a website development company in Virginia to build a site?
A standard business website typically takes 8 to 16 weeks from kickoff to launch, and complex or eCommerce builds take 4 to 6 months or longer.
The timeline depends on a handful of factors:
Scope: Page count, custom features, and integrations each add build time.
Content readiness: Waiting on copy, images, and approvals is the most common cause of delay.
Feedback speed: Slow review cycles on the client side stretch even a simple project.
Third-party dependencies: Payment gateways, CRMs, and APIs add coordination time.
A realistic timeline built around these variables is more reliable than any single best-case promise, and a seasoned web development company Virginia businesses hire will set that expectation early.
Should you hire a Virginia web development agency for a custom build or use a template?
Choose a custom build when the site must support specific workflows, integrations, or growth plans, and use a template when the budget is tight, and the requirements are standard.
A template gets a small business online quickly and cheaply, but it limits flexibility as needs grow. A custom build costs more upfront and takes longer, yet it scales cleanly and avoids the rework of outgrowing a rigid platform within a year.
The table below compares the two approaches across the factors that most affect the decision:
Factor
Template
Custom build
Upfront cost
Lower, often under $5,000
Higher, typically $12,000+
Time to launch
Days to a few weeks

What should be included in a contract with a web development company in Virginia?
A web development contract should define scope, timeline, payment schedule, ownership, and post-launch terms in writing before any work begins.
At minimum, the agreement needs to spell out:
Detailed scope of work: Exact deliverables, page count, and features, with a defined change-request process.
Payment schedule: Milestone-based payments tied to completed stages rather than a single lump sum.
Intellectual property transfer: Clear statement that the client owns the code and design on final payment.
Timeline and milestones: Target dates with a shared understanding of what causes delays.
Post-launch support: What is covered after launch, for how long, and at what cost.
A contract missing any of these leaves room for disputes that are far cheaper to prevent than to resolve, which is why a reputable web development company Virginia clients trust will insist on documenting them.
Do website development services in Virginia typically include hosting and maintenance?
Hosting and maintenance are sometimes bundled and sometimes billed separately, so a buyer should confirm the arrangement before signing.
Many firms offer a monthly care plan covering hosting, security updates, backups, and minor content changes, while others hand the finished site over and leave hosting to the client.
Ongoing annual operational assets like premium security layers and managed environments typically range from $100 to over $1,000+ per year.
How do you know if a web development agency in Virginia has relevant industry experience?
Look for case studies, live sites, and references in the same industry as the project, since sector-specific experience shortens the learning curve and reduces costly mistakes.
A firm that has built for regulated industries such as healthcare or finance will understand compliance requirements that a generalist may overlook.
Ask to see two or three completed projects similar in scope and function, then contact those clients directly. Reviewing a portfolio of past work and verifying it against real references is the single most reliable signal that a website development company in Virginia can deliver on the specific project.
What is the process for transferring code and site ownership once the project ends?
Ownership transfers when the developer hands over the full codebase, hosting credentials, domain control, and any third-party account access, usually on final payment.
A clean handoff includes the complete source code in a repository, admin logins for the CMS, DNS and domain registrar access, and documentation covering how the site is built and deployed. This step is often skipped or rushed, and the result is a business that cannot move its own site or hire a new developer without starting over.
Written confirmation of the transfer, with everything listed and delivered, protects the business from being locked into one vendor. The contract should require this handoff as a condition of the final payment.
