Urbanologie is a recommendation engine designed to help users discover experiences they’ll love. The platform caters to “high-flyers” and is currently only available in full to members who have an invitation code.
On launching the app for the first time, the user is taken through a brief onboarding process that demonstrates how to use the app for maximum benefit. This onboarding process helps ensure that users know how to interact with the app and are able to enjoy it to its fullest, thereby ensuring they’ll be more likely to keep it on their phone and access it often.
Urbanologie promises to keep users in the know about the most exciting and upscale happenings in their city. Currently the app has guides for a select number of world-class cities, including New York, London, Paris, Los Angeles and Ibiza. These guides act as a travel companions for the elite members on the platform, giving them tips on the best places to eat, drink, and relax in the cities they live in and visit.
Beyond the information available in the guides, users can create their own personalized lists of places they want to visit, so they never lose track of their to-dos and always have a list of ideas for their next night out.
The Urbanologie app has an elegant, upscale design that’s executed in a rich color palette. Colors are muted and classic -- nothing loud or garish about the aesthetics here. Minimalist typography contributes to the overall high-end vibe of the app. Colors are cleverly employed to designate different categories of venue -- ie; restaurants in deep purple, bars and clubs in vibrant green. These colors are also used as pin colors on the map view, so it’s easy to get an overview of everything happening in a given neighborhood.
