When you’re making a website for the movie, Despicable Me 3, how do you create something as fun as the movie itself? It’s a tall order for any designer but the secret appears to be to let the movie do the entertaining. The website doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel; just provide a place for the movie to show itself off.
Despicable Me 3 introduces a number of new characters so the website has given a page to each character in order to introduce them to audiences. A pose of the character is placed next to bold typography displaying their name. Again, the website doesn’t try to do too much. Rather, the great character design is on full display for viewers. Video and photos are used when appropriate but the website is careful not to bombard you with images that could seem messy or cluttered.
Of course, what would a Despicable Me website be without Minions? Photos of the yellow guys can be viewed, each more ridiculous than the last. The designer has included the Minions but was also careful about not to overuse them. With how much some people love the crazy Minions, it would have been easy to make an entirely Minions-themed website. That would have been the lazy way out. Instead, the designer has done a great job at showing off all aspects of the movie to get people excited to go see the film.
The perfect use of photos and video on certain areas of the website makes the site feel very entertaining and exciting. There is only a small amount of text in each section. Instead, the artwork is allowed to tell the story. One thing is for sure, browsing this website will put a smile on your face.
