Video Production Review from Bryce McPartland
We were referred to colormatics by our ad people at krem. We compared pricing and products of colormatics against a number of industry-specific marketing providers. Colormatics had the strongest portfolio and, surprisingly, offered exceptional pricing.
Colormatics laid out a full shoot schedule which was pre-approved. They arrived on scene early one morning and traveled across central Washington to four separate locations to make an exceptionally tight yet comprehensive video about our firm. We began around 8 am and wrapped about 430 pm.
Colormatics maintained excellent lines of communication including via email, text, cell and the video editing platform that they utilized. I always felt "in the loop" with them.

Colormatics has been an outstanding partner in creating a huge amount of assets needed for our biggest product launch of 2023. This includes but is not limited to: social media videos, product videos, mattress cutaway visualizations, YouTube bumpers, edited b-roll, and more. The whole team is always willing to hop on the phone or quickly answer an email, with fast asset delivery and willingness to bring forth suggestions/solves outside of their scope.

Video Production Review from Ryan Throckmorton
Our team developed the idea of showcasing individuals who are making a positive impact online within their own communities. When we shared the concept with Colormatics, they immediately explored creative ways to bring it to life visually. They transformed our vision into a compelling visual narrative.
The final piece blended live-action footage with motion graphics. We conducted interviews and also wanted to highlight the social media activity of these community members. Their profiles were used as a storytelling device, appearing almost like flashbacks, but animated in a way that made the content feel like it was unfolding in real time.
We’re now experimenting with turning interview voiceovers into animated illustrations. We believe these could resonate even more on social platforms. The plan was to compare performance between the two video styles, and we’re looking forward to testing them soon.

Naked Development Reviews & Testimonials

Mobile App Development Review from DJA
We paid $117,000 across two contracts $68,000 for development and $49,000 for marketing to Naked Development for a consumer-ready iOS and Android app and a full marketing funnel.
They delivered neither.
We originally requested delivery by Black Friday, the most critical sales window for a parent-focused consumer app. Naked Development proposed December as an alternative. That deadline was their own suggestion. They missed it. We extended to January, then February, then April, then issued a formal written Notice of Breach before giving them one final deadline the following June. Every deadline was missed. We were over 300% over timeline.
When we finally handed the codebase to a second development firm, the app would not build on either iOS or Android. We paid thousands just to get it running enough to assess the damage. The contracted team was never fully assembled. Tickets were put on hold without explanation. Subscription management, the most critical feature of the app, was broken for months and never fixed by Naked.
The commercial video Naked produced was unusable by launch, as cultural references had gone stale during the delay.
We are software engineers who have led teams of over 100. These were not minor issues. They were basic, objective engineering failures.
When we raised breach concerns with founder John Driscoll, his response was "let's just let our lawyers talk about it."
We are aware of more than a dozen other former clients who experienced similar issues. Do not recommend.
Mimi Bouchard
CEO at Superhuman Inc.

Mobile App Development Review from Mimi Bouchard
I hired Naked Development in 2022 to build a new version of my mobile app. I paid $203,000 upfront (spread over six months essentially everything I had saved from my first year in business), and was told the app would be completed in five months, by Fall 2022.
Instead, the project turned into nearly a year of delays, almost done updates, and declining involvement from their team. My very small internal team and I ended up doing much of the project management and QA work ourselves because progress had stalled so severely. Despite constant reassurances, no functional product was ever delivered.
By mid-2023, I hired multiple external development teams to assess the code. Every single one independently concluded that the app was non-functional, unstable, not scalable, and could not be launched. They warned it would crash immediately and required a complete rebuild. I then hired a neutral third-party auditor with zero connection to any agency and his report confirmed the same findings.
After paying over $200K, I had nothing usable. When I factored in delays, internal time lost, expert audits, and the cost of rebuilding from scratch, the financial impact to my business exceeded $500,000.
After multiple attempts to resolve the situation privately were unsuccessful, I filed a lawsuit, which is now a matter of public record (Superhuman Inc. v. Naked Development). The case is set for trial in early 2026. While litigation is never something a founder hopes for, at a certain point it became the only responsible path given the evidence and the financial damage.
I strongly recommend extreme caution when considering this agency.

Working with people that are as creative as I am is awesome. Receiving top marks across the board, Naked. is an innovative team of artists. The client praises them for their outside-the-box thinking and ability to connect on a creative level. Throughout the project, they’ve demonstrated attentive service and communication.

7 Frequently Asked Questions About Austin Marketing Agencies
What red flags should make me walk away from an Austin digital marketing agency?
Walk away the moment a digital marketing agency in Austin guarantees a specific Google ranking or a fixed timeline for SEO results. Only 1.74% of newly published web pages reach Google's top 10 within their first year, according to a May 2025 Ahrefs study of more than one million pages, so a guaranteed date for page-one rankings is a promise no honest agency can keep.
Other red flags in this category: an agency that won't show you a sample reporting dashboard before you sign, one that can't name the specific person who will run your account day to day, and one that gets vague when you ask who owns your ad accounts, website code, or content library if you part ways. If case studies of marketing companies in Austin only show percentage lifts without a baseline number, ask for the baseline. A 300% increase in leads means very little if it went from 2 leads to 8.
How much of my revenue should I actually budget for a marketing agency?
Budget 5-10% of gross revenue for marketing if you're an established small business. Gartner's 2025 CMO Spend Survey puts the industry average at 7.7% of revenue; the Deloitte/Duke CMO Survey puts it at 9.4%. Early-stage or in a competitive category? Lean toward 12-20% because you're building awareness from zero, not maintaining an existing base.
Smaller businesses generally need a higher percentage than large-enterprise averages suggest, and your category matters more than any flat rule: consumer product companies often run 9-12%+ of revenue, B2B and industrial companies closer to 3-7%. Ask Austin digital marketing agencies to show their fee as a percentage of what you're already spending, so the retainer fits your size.
What hidden costs do Austin digital marketing agencies leave out of their proposals?
The hidden cost that catches most buyers off guard is an undisclosed markup on ad spend and media buys. Some Austin marketing agencies tend to mark up media by 30-90% on "principal" transactions, in which the agency buys media on its own behalf and resells it to the client.
Ask any digital marketing agency in Austin directly whether your ad budget flows through their account or a third party's, and whether they keep rebates, discounts, or "platform fees" along the way. A 2026 survey found 43% of advertisers still have concerns about media agency transparency, and nearly half of those say their concerns have grown over the past year.
How soon can I expect real results from these agencies?
Expect early signals within 60 to 90 days, but plan on 4 to 12 months before SEO meaningfully moves revenue. Ahrefs' May 2025 study of newly published pages found that only 1.74% reached Google's top 10 within a full year, which is why any agency promising fast organic rankings for competitive Austin keywords is setting an unrealistic bar.
Paid channels like Google Ads and Meta move faster since you're paying for placement rather than earning it. Expect lead volume and cost-per-lead data within the first month of a campaign, even if it takes another month or two of testing to get those numbers where you want them. If 90 days pass with no data, no test results, and no adjusted strategy, that's a bigger warning sign than a slow ranking.
What reporting should I demand before signing with an agency?
Demand live access to a reporting dashboard, not just a monthly PDF recap. Marketing budgets are under more scrutiny than ever, with 73% of marketers saying their budgets face more scrutiny now than in the past, according to industry reports of more than 1,500 global marketers.
At minimum, ask for direct or read-only access to your own ad accounts and analytics properties, a monthly report that ties activity back to leads or revenue rather than impressions or followers. Ask for a standing call to discuss the numbers rather than just to receive them. If a marketing agency in Austin resists giving you direct platform access, that's usually less about protecting their process and more about making it harder for you to leave.
What's the most expensive mistake I could make when firing my current agency?
The most expensive mistake is switching Austin digital marketing agencies before you've given the current relationship a fair, direct chance to fix what's broken. Before switching, get specific about what's actually wrong: is it results, communication, or reporting, and have you said so directly with a real deadline to fix it? If the answer is no, a hard conversation with your current agency is almost always cheaper than a new pitch process, a new contract, and another 60- to 90-day ramp-up.
Should I sign a long-term contract with an Austin marketing agency, or start small?
Start with a shorter initial term of 3 to 6 months before locking into anything longer with marketing companies in Austin. A joint 2025 study by the ANA and the 4As found that the average client-agency relationship now lasts about seven years, more than double the 3.2-year average reported in 2016. Clients without mandatory review periods kept their agencies for an average of 8.1 years, compared with as little as 3.8 years for clients locked into frequent reviews.
Treat your first few months as a real trial, then move to an open-ended arrangement. Ask what the agency delivers in the first 90 days. Once you've seen it, commit and resist the urge to schedule your next "should we stay" conversation.
