The App Design’s Shared Account Feature Grants Users Easy Spending Supervision
From a limited user base of around 400 people to being an essential app used by over 9,000 monthly users, the app "family" grew substantially thanks to the thorough redesign of the app, courtesy of design agency Surf.
The best app designers applaud this platform's overarching success of delivering a blend of new color schemes, gamified features motivating children to earn from a young age, and a simplified customer journey.
But at its core, the app design for National Family Bank is designed to represent a holistic solution for family financing. That said, its main feature is a shared account that suits the diverse needs of each family member. It also allows the account owner to customize limits for their loved ones, including special accounts for kids and other impressive features.

National Family Bank App Design Instills Good Habits in Children Through Incentivized Gamification Programs
While performing its primary function of keeping track of the family's spending habits, the app design has features that help motivate children through entertaining tools.
One tool is a digital piggy bank, where parents can directly deposit money. In addition, the remaining amount from a child's daily limit goes into the piggy bank. The child can only access the total amount saved once the piggy bank is full.

The app also encourages kids to set their own goals. This prompts the parents to put a price on some chores. Also known as Tasks, these small chores are set by a parent in exchange for stars or money. Let's say your child wants a new gaming console in exchange for 500 stars, as approved by you. In that case, you can reward small tasks like doing a chore for 20 stars, doing well in exams for 100 stars, and so on.
This unique feature rewards productivity. As the child completes a task, parents can be notified immediately. This way, the children form healthy spending habits and a deeper understanding of the effort it takes to get their desired result.
National Family Bank App Design Features a Simplified Customer Journey Packed With Helpful Budgeting Tools
The user journey is clear and simple. The app design easily distinguishes the main holder (the account owner) as an administrator. The admin can view each member's spending, overall balance, and other vital details.
This person can edit and explore budgeting tools fully. The owner can also appoint a proxy with equal rights over usability.
The owner and the proxy can also keep track of the linked cards and set spending limits for other users seamlessly. They can see funds transferred to or between personal accounts and get notified of the accounts nearing their spending limits. The expenditures are also segmented into categories, letting the owner understand what the family spends at all times.
App Design Mixes Brand Colors and Premium Pastel Shades for a Sublime Blend
Aside from its extensive functionality, the design stands out for its delightful visuals and cozy color palette, contributing to its modern look and simplified browsing experience.

This redesign updated the palette in line with its goal of creating a family-friendly financing app. That's why the brand's primary colors were decorated with calmer hues. Each carefully selected pastel color represents an app feature, helping users differentiate between sections while enhancing the interface.
