Overall Excellent Service, worthy of flowers! We have most valued the CPA help with our accounting, month end reviews, and help with making informed financial decisions for our organization. Kirsch would earn 5 stars if they improved on the payroll side communicating the additional "hidden" costs. For us, we are a small non-profit, and the cost for this service has increased significantly. Expect additional charges for phone calls and email correspondence even if you have a managed service plan for payroll. We have certainly needed the support this year and appreciate the team at Kirsch!

I have been working with Dmitri for 2 years, first year was reasonably good and I did get adequate advice and help in filing taxes. However over the second year I was billed multiple thousands of dollars for services that I did not request - including over $1k for computing estimated tax liability that included "research" and multiple meetings between associates (all billed separately) to "review filing". When we tried to discuss this unplanned work, Dmitri insisted that it was in my interest and necessary despite my dissatisfaction with the work, and we terminated the relationship as a result. I think they are ok firm but you need to discuss exact work to be performed upfront or will end up paying thousands like I had to.

The worst professionals I have ever worked with. They charged us approximately $30,000 for a tax filing, were very unresponsive, and at the end tacked on another approximately $15K charge. They refused to file our return until they received the tacked on charge. This was a hostage taking situation. We reluctantly paid and immediately moved to another firm where our taxes are done for approximately $8K per year. John is a small man- in stature, professionalism and character. They did not do the work they claim to do-- such as quarterly or annual check-ins. I hesitate to say they are fraudulent, but they are on that continuum.

I booked a consultation with one of the CPAs working at Avalon because, after 18 years in the USA, I was back in Canada and running a small Canadian corporation for the first time. Given the large differences between how a small Canadian corporation is taxed as compared to a US-based LLC, I was in the dark about how to manage on the financial side. Eric at Avalon did a great job walking me through my options, pointing me to further resources and doing some needed follow-up as well. He was generous with his time and well-prepared for our meeting. My only complaint is that Avalon should have a better initial scheduling/onboarding system. I had to wait for some time to get a response to my initial inquiry, and a fair bit longer for the appointment itself, all of which was done without any messages or other info provided telling me that I was indeed still in the queue, so to speak. There was also no engagement or other disclaimers with respect to legal liability. But these things were not worth a "star" to me, so Avalon is getting five of those from me. Thank you!
