Sabatini’s Quiche Packaging Design Accentuates the Brand’s Culinary History
Spending his formative youth in the small town of Villa Santa Maria (internationally acclaimed “Town of Chefs”), where he mastered the fine art of “Abruzzi principles”, Giorgio Sabatini brought his distinct skillset “across the pond” to North York, Canada.
Uniting the long-standing Italian cooking tradition with American-style precooked meals, Sabatini’s gourmet kitchen launched their own line of pre-prepared foods back in 1975.
As a celebration of the Abruzzi customs, all of Sabatini’s dishes are prepared from scratch. Nothing is ever compromised – all his food exceeds the highest industry standards.
However, finding the right packaging design is very much like finding the perfect ingredient, so it’s no wonder Sabatini’s turned to Reflective Media Inc. to prepare an extensive branding exploration of the brand’s famous quiche skus + two meat pies.
True to its name, the agency created Sabatini’s Quiche packaging design that effortlessly reflects the brand’s rich history and authority just by glancing at it.

Sabatini’s Quiche Packaging Design Celebrates Culinary Tradition with a Fresh Take on ”Conventional”
One would think that designing “standard” food packaging like this one comprises solely from quality photography, simplistic layout and POOF! - it’s ready for the printer! Wrong!
(See how to design the perfect retail packaging here)
As a half a century-old family business, it was of the utmost importance to visually weave a tale of the Sabatini patriarch and his culinary training. The brand needed an upscale style to illustrate the prestigious cooking knowledge behind the brand, its careful recipe development and high-quality products.
This was established using a very formal and symmetrical layout combined with rich black and deep “merlot” red locked in with the gold typography and frame line. The packaging oozes that distinct Italian elegance. The classy thin letter mark, framed by the gold line beneath it, doesn’t rely on tradition, or contemporary design – it’s timeless!

Reflective Media Inc. Reintroduces Visual Sincerity to Sabatini’s Quiche Packaging Design
We all witness it daily. As the digital era expands (and even before), food and beverage branding especially disconnects people from the products they consume. Not only does it result in false advertising that we take for granted, where every meal looks as if it was slapped with a Snapchat filter, the untrue “beauty” makes every food brand faceless and unoriginal.
Sabatini’s Quiche packaging design goes in the opposite, candid direction. While easy on the eyes, each render matches the product inside.
The window die cut looks unique on shelves and it cuts through the noise of similar “farm-like” competition with its strong formality and bigger view of the pie/quiches. Reflective Media Inc. used actual pies as the quality was superior to the alternative and required no styled stand-ins. They were photographed angled overhead and sliced to showcase the filling and crust.
Although fairly uniform, the agency created six separate, color-coded designs to clearly differentiate between flavors.
