It's been a pleasure to work with Webamboos over the last two years, initially to build the MVP of our art marketplace and then to add new features and improve our product. At the start of our partnership, we had a few meetings with the Project Manager with whom we refined the Product Requirements and identified the core functionality for the MVP. During this time, Webamboos used their expertise to suggest improvements and point out any potential tech blockers early on. Once this was ready, the team built the MVP of the marketplace using a Javascript/TypeScript-based tech stack (Node.js / Next.js), while integrating a headless CMS (Strapi), payment processing (Stripe), and email API (SendGrid). As a product designer, I produced the designs and flows for the team to work on. Webamboos then converted the designs into functionality, working in 2-week sprints. The team actively suggests improvements rather than simply building without asking questions. This collaboration is key to creating great products, that are both technically robust and pleasant from a UX point of view. When we did run into issues (which is unavoidable when building a complex product), we could always count on the team to adapt and come up with solutions. This includes both allocating additional resources for important fixes and sharing knowledge from highly experienced team members that were working on a different project. Also, it is clear that everyone who works there is passionate about what they do, and truly wants your business to do well. There are those you meet and then there are those who hold dear. When I first met Lennie at Cider House Media, I took him for the former. He would be like all the other website designers I had come across, offering a flat but flashy site that caught folks eyes, showed them a thing or two, slid them into my inbox, where I would then coax them to trust my grant-writing chops. Nah, not Lennie at Cider House Media. Upon learning of my new grant-writing business, he rolled up his sleeves and got right in it with me. He fostered curiosity not only about the new site but also the new venture. My eyes were opened to all that he had at his disposal, all the tools in his toolbox that would permit wondrous business transactions to occur. I learned about the interplay between customers reviews and search engine optimization, SEO for newbies; the perils of a too-long company name for my sites address and staffs email handles (e.g., cwgw@ versus commonwealthgrantworks@), widgets for enabling my website for sensory-friendliness, and what GoDaddy could promise and take away (e.g. domain name protection when using the word grants and everyone else suddenly wants one). But Lennie went steps further. He showed up at my grand opening event in Noho, when I thought nobody would, working the room with his easy-going and heartfelt style. Lennie continued to inspire me with his evocative business-related questions, always being a gracious recipient of my companys annual holiday letter, greeting me as he would an old friend during our website tune-up sessions, and aiding me in my time of greatest need when we memorialized together my late sons company website. Truly a one-in-a-million website designer, Lennie at Cider House Media is near and dear to my heart.
